NO WOW NO SHOCKER marina mirage gold coast

I grabbed my piccolo served in an 8 oz cup and thought that must be a heavy paper cup.
I walked out of view before tasting.
I rarely sip my brew in front of an intentionally caring barista in case I spit it out all over them in disgust.
No need to embarrass either party.
My piccolo was a full 8 oz. I thought she understood.
I got a piccolo MILKSHAKE.
Robbed too!
Verbal charge was $3 thanks,
I handed over $5 and received $1.50 change.

Blend was confusing, buttery true, too much milk. Explanation of sustainable coffee is poor.
happy to pay for a poor experience in hope of evolving expectation.

SHOCKER AWARD Gold Coast

New Café Shocker Award
Are you suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, feeling bloated or having other digestive problems?
I don’t have a cure but it is possible we had a coffee at the same place today.
You may recall, prior to the stomach ache, being drawn into a new café with an interesting look.
Black Di Bella barricades and a 3 group Wega sporting the front.
Featuring black brick walls and lime green up lights and interior bamboo wallpaper.
Once lured inside it is obvious that coffee drinkers are not the market they would like.
With possibly 100 bottles of liquor on the back counter and rarely available Hoegaarden.
Whilst the 3 group WEGA and the Di Bella Barricades are placed to appeal to the coffee loving eyes, our experience showed zero respect for coffee.
A quick point on wallpaper.
Wallpaper seems to be experiencing a comeback.
The push must be coming from generations who have never had to change it.
When the lime green and eye burning orange seems out of fashion, or a visitor makes mention of the nicotine stains (70’s), it was time to change the wallpaper.
Believe me, never experience a task that involves changing wallpaper.
DO NOT TOUCH THE BBQ PLATE, IT IS HOT!! –Believe me
DO NOT CHANGE THE WALLPAPER, IT IS PAINFUL!!!!! Please believe me.

The staff are sprouting there Australia Day success of a queue five people deep all day for $5 Coronas. Mostly drawn in by the live Bongo players in the background.
I would have expected a deeper queue from a nation of drunks @ $5 Coronas
Our Coffee Experience.
1st guy looked like he may have some understanding plus coffee skills, but wandered away and whispered for help after we ordered a short latte.
(Complete standard shot and half the milk), Sometimes ordered successfully as a Piccolo.
The help arrived. Wishing she hadn’t.
The first bloke at least looked the part.
I haven’t made a coffee for so long, she said.
Opened 6 weeks ago and hasn’t made a coffee for so long?

The double filter was half filled and tamped the way you would pat a butterfly.
Ever so incorrectly gently.
Hence, 10 second total under extraction. Not enough coffee grounds, too much water and too fast.
My more demanding for his dollar friend, made some helpful suggestions.
The result was another single basket shot poured over the HELL shot and served to us.
She suggested, we check out the upstairs DJ bar with beds and lounges.
No, we will wait and watch and be mesmorised by the crusty milk in and around the jug.
Distraction of her poor skills avoided.
They surely heard my inner lip split from laughter and embarrassment for them.
I was kind and enjoyed the bad experience, learning from good and bad all the time.
The big bad barista who admitted it had been so long since she had made a coffee suggested that one was free of charge. More than likely they heard the several attempts of my
(Less than willing to pay for a bad experience) mate comment, “Can we walk away, can we walk away NOW".
They offered to charge for one only. Nice idea but not good eough.
I would have offered a Hoegarrden (x2) no charge

I should have walked away, but I feel I have grown being able to voice my main opinion,
DO NOT CHANGE WALLPAPER

SHOCKER AWARD Brisbane Airport

Gday
An example of Shocker award winner.
At a very popular Brisbane airport cafe, I noticed they only served 12oz and 16oz buckets.
I asked if could have a double shot in the 12 oz and only 3/4 filled with milk.
This would possibly come close to my particular taste.
The reply was "Whatta you want Sir" said with a dirty screwed up scoul of a face that looked like an unrinsed day old steam wand Chux cloth.
I really nicely repeated my preference.
Reply was "I cant ask the girls to do that"
Why I asked?
Reponse was "we are too busy"
There are only 2 other customers behind me.
I apologised for making him busier and left.
He called out loudly in a pathetically apolgising tone.
I will only accept his apology by accepting a $40 per hour job as Manager so I can enjoy the slow and painful sacking of his $28 per hour position.
